Arsene Wenger insists Theo Walcott is ready to make his mark on The Premier League after he was named in Fabio Capello’s England squad to face France.
The youngster has fought his back into the England set-up having burst onto the international scene in 2006 when he was named in Sven-Goran Eriksson’s World Cup squad.
But after a firing his first league goals of the season against Birmingham at the end of last month, Wenger believes Walcott has earned his international call-up.
Wenger said on Setanta Sports News: “He is ready to make an impact. What I like in Theo’s career is that he started as an international before becoming a player in The Premier League, but he has slowly but quietly worked his way back.
“For me he is on the way up and is really having an influence in training on a daily basis.”
