Kolo Toure admits Arsenal’s promising but ultimately damp squib of a season came after they took their eye off the ball in the final furlong of the campaign.
The Gunners sat pretty at the top of the domestic pile for long periods, while they appeared to have banished any suggestions they were not up to the fight in Europe with an historic Champions League win in Milan.
However, Arsene Wenger’s fledglings eventually ran out of steam, finishing third in the league and, more noticeably, trophlyess for the third successive campaign.
Wenger has already made it apparent that he will not alter his transfer policy this summer in a bid to reach the next level, and Toure is confident the existing squad have learnt a lesson.
“We know we have to do something because this season has been really strange for us,” the Ivorian told the club's official website.
“We started it really well but we had some bad luck at the end of the season. We did not have the same desire and focus at the end and that’s what we have to change next season.”
