Match Of The Day Highlights

The last home game of the season is over. Just a away game to look forward to before the season is concluded. You could make out from the performance that this was the penultimate game of the season. Arsenal players lacked sharpness, although the lack of it can also be down to the inexperience in midfield.

Both teams did not want to lose the game, and hence it lacked the zip and pace that all arsenal games had. Everton needed a point to secure a place in Europe, so they played for a draw from the start, with only Johnson up front.

The first clearcut chance fell to Everton, who were denied by a good piece of goal keeping from fabianski. Then there were couple of good chances for Arsenal to score. Adebayor had a off game because the player marking him(Yobo) played really well.

The second half started in the same fashion. Both the teams did not go for a win, as everton were playing safe and not wanting to lose and arsenal did not have their experience.

Wenger made two substitutions, bring on Jens and Armand for Fabianski and Toure. You could make out that it will be the last home game for Jens in Arsenal colours.

Everton tired a bit, Armand, who has tremendous pace got passed hibbert and floated in a nice cross for bendtner to head home. It was a towering header from the young dane, his 9th goal of the season.

After the goal, Everton went forward in search for their goal. But we stayed focused and came through with a clean sheet.

Our home record is phenomenal this season, having won 14 and drawing 5. We have lost only 1 home game in Emirates, that too last season. So in the 38 home games played, losing only 1 game is a achievement. The only thing it lacked was a EPL crown to show off. But if we maintain the same consistency next season, both home and away, there is no team in England to stop us from becoming the champions.

After the game, a lap of honor was being done by all the players. Some might have noticed that, fabregas and tomas were withholding flamini's hand, who was waving it, in a manner of saying good bye. This tells us how much the players want him and how good the team spirit is in the dressing room. Hope he is available for the next season.

Thats it then, last home game concluded. We got our result, and have kept our last hope of finishing 2nd in the league, after ManU won yesterday.
