Fabregas will remain a Gunner and he is the future

Arsene Wenger has dismissed speculation linking midfield linchpin Cesc Fabregas away from The Emirates and has insisted that Arsenal’s key players will not be sold over the summer.

Typically, the close-season rumour mill is likely to focus heavily on Fabregas with interest from many of Europe’s top clubs but Wenger has again outlined his vision for Arsenal’s future, with the midfielder having a vital role to play.

“Let me make this clear," he said. "Fabregas is part of our future and I want this team to stay together and prove we can win things with style.

“My players are admired the world over but in the last 12 years, we’ve always managed to keep our big stars.”

Fabregas, who signed a seven-year deal with Arsenal last summer, echoed those sentiments and reiterated his desire to remain with The Gunners.

“My future is with Arsenal and that is the truth. This is the best team to be at and I believe we will win the title and the Champions League.”

Arsenal’s convincing 2-0 win against Reading on Saturday appears to be too little but the Frenchman believes that the performance demonstrates his side’s ability to respond to adversity in a positive manner.

“We are still very disappointed by what happedned in the last few weeks but the response was magnificent after a massive disappointment.

“It shows my players have pride and the character to bounce back and finish the season strongly.”
