The captain doesn't fit

Shaun Custis feels Arsene Wenger's decision to appoint William Gallas as captain is one of the reasons why Arsenal's title bid has faltered.

He told The Supplement: "One of the problems Arsenal have had in this part of the season is that there seems to have been a bit of disunity in the ranks.

"William Gallas went and sat at the other end of the pitch against Birmingham and a few players didn't like the way he behaved.

"There was also the Adebayor bust-up with Bendtner and, again, Wenger said he didn't see it and it was no big deal.

"Actually, I think we've seen some real disunity in the ranks at Arsenal for the first time, which is so unlike them.

"Usually Wenger's got a handle on this and I wonder if it's because not all the players are respecting Gallas as a captain.
