Walcott - Liverpool welcome to 'favourites' tag

Walcott is perfectly happy to go Anfield next Tuesday as the underdogs to reach the Champions League Semi-Finals

Walcott came on at half time and produced another eye-catching display as Arsenal went in pursuit of a winner. However their failure to find one makes Rafa Benitez' side appear more likely to go through - and the 18-year-old does not mind one bit.

"People can say that Liverpool are favourites," said the forward. "That is a good thing really. We can just concentrate on ourselves and they can have all the pressure. There is plenty of belief, the lads have been buzzing in training. We’ll turn to Saturday now and then back to the Champions League.

"We will take the positives out of this game, look at Liverpool’s negatives and see where it takes us. I think we will go there, play our football and get a goal."

Despite missing more than their fair share of opportunities, Walcott believes on another day they would have been going to Anfield in the driving seat.

"The first half was like a Champions League game, slow passing around," he said. "Then the second half was quick. But we got used to it so I think we will treat it like a Premier League game up there. We had so many chances and we would have taken those on another day. Sometimes you have days when you can't score and it was one of those.

"When I came on, I was on the left and gave them a few problems before I moved out to the right. I didn’t see enough of the ball as I wanted, but yeah there were good signs. Now we have to start thinking about Saturday and then from there, the following Tuesday. But there is plenty of belief left."
