Ready for distraction

Matt Le Tissier comments on the upcoming match between Arsenal and Liverpool on Saturday.

I say that because, for both Rafael Benitez and Arsene Wenger, the Champions League represents their best chance of winning a trophy this season.

Liverpool have obviously got to make sure they finish fourth, but there is no question they can focus a lot of their energies on the Champions League second leg next Tuesday.

As for Arsenal, they are six points behind Manchester United in the title race and I think it's going to be too tough for them to claw that back. Of the three games between these two teams this week, this will probably be viewed as the least important.

Arsenal can count themselves unlucky not to be taking an advantage back to Anfield after their European match on Wednesday.

It's trickier to say whether Arsenal will do that because they still think they've got half a chance of winning the league.

Le Tiss Predicts

HOME WIN - Arsenal might just nick this one because they've got a bit more to play for. I see Liverpool resting a couple of players and that will allow Arsenal to sneak it 2-1.

Matt's Main Man

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR - There was a lot of talk about him having never scored in the Champions League, but he's got two goals in two games in that competition and he's back on a roll. He didn't start against Bolton last week and maybe a bit of a rest will do him some good. He's had a bit of a barren spell in the Premier League, but he should be full of confidence again now.
