Van Persie is ruled out but Adebayor will be available

Robin van Persie has been ruled out of the game against Liverpool on Saturday but Emmanuel Adebayor will be available.

The Dutchman was forced off at half-time in Wednesday's Champions League tie between the two sides with a thigh problem. Wenger gave Van Persie a 20 per cent chance of playing when he spoke to Arsenal TV Online on Thursday. A day later at the pre-match press conference, that probability fell to zero.

However there was better news on his strike partner who hurt his ankle in midweek.

"Robin is not available but Adebayor will be," said Wenger. "He is fit enough to start. I don't really know if he will be able to last 90 minutes. That is difficult to predict. Wednesday was an intense game but in the last 24 hours we have been able to assess the players for the upcoming game."
